How the visit works

What actually happens when you come in

  1. Identify the pain generator

A spine MRI often shows several findings, most of which are not the problem. The evaluation is about working out which one is actually producing your symptoms.

  2. Targeted, image-guided procedures

Epidural steroid injections, facet joint injections, radiofrequency ablation and occipital nerve blocks are performed in the office under fluoroscopic or ultrasound guidance.

  3. Explained in plain language

You get told what was found, what each option involves, and what happens if you do nothing for now.
